Lessons Learned

I'm reflecting back over the week tonight (rough work week) and decided I would post a quick and dirty list of some of the things that I have learned in my professional life over the past 17 years.  I'm sure you have learned many of these same lessons, some the easy way and some the hard way, just like me.  If not, maybe reading it here will keep you from having to learn it the hard way!

-People are always down on what they're not up on.

-Anyone named Agnes is just a little bit crazy (sorry to all you Agnes's out there, but this has been my experience)!

-Some people will give you just enough rope to hang yourself.

-A little bit of knowledge coupled with an ego can be really dangerous.

-Never play leapfrog with a unicorn (threw this in to see if you're paying attention).

-No job is worth crying over.

-Seize every opportunity - it's a habit of successful people.

-The devil IS in the details - but he's also in the big stuff!!

-No good deed goes unpunished - so true!

-No matter how many times you check and re-check the microphone, when the speaker gets to the podium, it won't work.  Therefore, find your hiding place before the event begins.

-Everyone needs a mental health day every once in a while.

-Loud music and an open sunroof can almost always make you feel better.

-Simple is almost always better.

-You can't do it all and you can't do it all by yourself.

-Things change - deal with it.

-Eating at your desk every day is a bad habit.

-Know everyone's name because everyone is important.

-Conversation truly is an art.

-Balancing work life and home life is one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do.  You won't always get it right.  Forgive yourself and move on.

-Everyone needs an atta-girl every once in a while.

-Put on your big girl panties every day!

  1. Atta girl!! You have known most of these for quite some time and have done a remarkable job balancing it all.
